Reducing and Preventing Adverse Drug Reactions
Lesson 3 has discussed different types of drugs used to treat cancer, the central and autonomic nervous systems, and skin disorders. The chapters covered also focused on possible adverse drug reactions and their effects on people. Current statistics state that more than 770,000 injuries and deaths occur each year because of ADEs. They cost up to $5.6 million per hospital.
Based on what you have read and learned in class, go online and research professional articles that discuss the incidence of adverse drug reactions and how they can affect the physician, the patient, and, potentially, the hospital or health care setting. Once you have researched the topic thoroughly, create a list of the top two to four ways doctors could reduce the risk of an ADE.
