The Obama administration launched the “Partnership for Patients – Better care, Lower costs.”
Discuss with your colleagues:
1. What are the programs goals?
2.What will it mean for patients?
3. What will it mean for health care organizations and its employees? Good or bad? Why?
4. What is shared decision-making? Is this good for all concerned? What problems do you see with this approach? Assuming a goal of arriving at a treatment decision which is based on the physician’s knowledge and the patient’s preferences, how would this be implemented.
Read the background articles but this discussion will take research beyond the above articles. Here is one site to get your started on your research. http://partnershipforpatients.cms.gov/
Provide citation of authority to support your initial response to conference questions. Peers are expected to demonstrate critical thinking in their questions related to the classmates’ descriptions.
